Speak your mind – that's how important feedback is!
In this article, I would like to introduce you to the importance of expressing opinions and a healthy feedback culture.
A personal story
During my time in community service, I had the opportunity to work in a retirement home and would like to tell you about a formative experience. My first boss in this institution changed my view of honesty and directness forever.
She was a woman who did not digress and always expressed her opinion clearly, even if she was sometimes uncomfortably honest. This blunt manner, coupled with respect, inspired me deeply. It was a wake-up call that led me to align my life and work with the principle of honesty.
I realized that being sincere is crucial in any relationship – be it personal or professional. This experience has taught me that the truth is often more healing than avoiding conflicts or glossing over situations.
Working and living according to the principle of honesty means not only being authentic, but also showing respect for others. This value has become a guideline in my everyday life and significantly influences my interactions with people.
Why is it so important to speak your mind in a business environment?
Granted, it's not always easy, but the benefits are immense.
Honesty and directness for a healthy working environment:
Imagine working in a team where no one speaks their honest opinion. Unspoken thoughts only lead to unnecessary tension. That's why it's important to be direct and honest with each other. In this way, we create a trusting environment in which everyone is heard.
Avoidance of unspoken conflicts:
Conflicts often arise from suppressed opinions and unclear communication. By sharing our thoughts, misunderstandings can be avoided and problems can be solved early. Open discussion is key to conflict prevention.
Communication without digression:
Direct communication saves time and misunderstandings. If we speak our minds clearly and directly, we can work together more effectively and come to solutions faster. No pushing around, but clear words for efficient cooperation.
My experience has shown that openness and honesty are the cornerstones of successful cooperation. It's not about always being right, but about being authentic and communicating constructively. So, dare to speak your mind, because it counts!
Don't let any idea be too small or too big!
When I think of my daily work, I immediately think of situations in which open discussions, constructive feedback and respectful customer communication play a major role. Let me give you some concrete examples:
Open discussions in team meetings:
In our team meetings, it is important to us that everyone can express their opinion. We create an atmosphere where no idea is too small or too big. Through open discussions, we can bring together different perspectives and arrive at better solutions.
Constructive feedback in project presentations:
When it comes to project presentations, we attach great importance to constructive feedback. We see feedback as an opportunity to continuously improve and take our projects to a higher level. Every input is appreciated because it helps us broaden our horizons.
Respectful customer communication:
Respect and honesty are particularly important to us in our dealings with our customers. We strive to build long-term partnerships based on trust. Honest conversations create an open and positive relationship level that is enriching for both sides.
These examples illustrate how important it is to cultivate the right communication culture in different situations. Openness, constructive feedback and respect are the cornerstones of successful cooperation and positive development in our working environment.
Expression of opinion in the work environment
Let's talk about something that is really close to my heart: the importance of our opinions, especially in the creative industry!
Importance of Expression in the Creative Industry:
In our industry, it is crucial that we dare to share our thoughts and ideas. This is the only way we can find truly innovative and creative solutions.
Courage to be honest and accept criticism:
It takes courage to be honest and accept constructive criticism. But that's exactly what makes us grow and get better.
Avoid shadows through active participation:
If we hold back and don't actively participate in discussions, we'll stay in the shadows and miss out on important opportunities to develop and learn.
I have learned myself how important it is to be honest and accept constructive criticism. It's really improved my work and my collaboration with other creatives. So be brave, be constructive, and be proactive – you'll see how it positively impacts your creative work.
